Brighton and Hove Independent Mediation Service (BHIMS) have been delivering mediation in the community for 18 years and now a grant from Awards for All means that for the next few months we are able to provide free Workplace Mediation to the voluntary and community sector. However, we are only able to offer this to a limited number of voluntary and community sector organizations and groups so please get in touch as soon as you can.

Why should you use workplace mediation?

Even minor disagreements that are not dealt with quickly, can develop into grievances or disputes.  The overriding aim of workplace mediation is to restore and maintain working relationships wherever possible. The focus is on working together to go forward by reaching practical solutions.

The new ACAS code of practice encourages using mediation for handling discipline and grievances at work and recommends that mediation be tried before going to an employment tribunal.

Mediation is a confidential and informal process used to help resolve problems between people in the workplace. Mediators listen to both sides of the dispute and work with the parties involved to reach agreements between themselves.

If you are aware of any situation where you believe mediation could be helpful or if you just want to find out more about the service, please contact us for further information.
