ENJOY READING WITH ‘LIFELINES’
- Are you over 50 and looking for something different at your library?
- Would you be happy to share your love of reading and help keep that experience alive for older members of your community?
- Do you know someone or do you yourself have trouble accessing books due to difficulties with sight, mobility, health, confidence or other reasons?
The LifeLines ‘Enjoy Reading’ project aims not only to provide the opportunity to access reading, for those who would otherwise find it difficult, but also seeks to promote well-being through reading-aloud at home and in groups.
Volunteer Opportunity
We are recruiting a team of people aged over 50 whose experience and skills will help support this project across Brighton & Hove.
You could support it in one or more ways
• Visiting the reader to read aloud for ½ hr to 1 hr each week.
• Supporting or joining a library based Read Aloud group.
• Picking up books from the library and delivering them to the reader at their home
• As a driver, enabling the reader to attend library based activities and ‘get togethers’.
• Acting as an organiser for any of the above activities.
